How to prepare for your tattoo appointment.

Are you excited for your upcoming tattoo and doing a little late night research before your appointment? let me give you a little run down on what I personally believe clients should do to prep their bodies to be the perfect canvas for your new tattoo!

Skin prep

Give your artist a helping hand by giving your skin a little TLC the day before your appointment:

  • Use a gentle scrub or exfoliating mitt in the shower to remove dead skin cells.

  • Skip shaving unless your artist has asked you to. we typically prefer to shave you our selves to ensure a close shave and a hygienic area. however if you have longer hair a trim is always appreciated.

Fresh, smooth skin = easier to tattoo, better healing, and crisp results.

On the day of your appointment, your skin should be clean and dry—no lotions, no coconut oil, no bronzers or self-tanners. These can interfere with quite a bit of the process.

Fuel Up and Hydrate

Eat a solid meal before your appointment. Bring a snack and water if your session is going to be long. Don’t forget to load up on sleep as well. getting tattooed is physically strenuous and this will make you hungry and tired. get ahead of that!

Start drinking more water the day before. Your body and your tattoo will thank you. As an artist I can tell you hydrated skin is canvas GOLD.

Wear the Right Outfit

Your clothes should make it easy to access the tattoo area while keeping you comfy and covered as much as possible. Avoid anything tight or hard to remove, and definitely leave your favorite clothes at home.
